Each year lawns lose grass! Overseeding is needed whether it is from season loss, drought stress, winter deterioration, disease, or insect damage. These problems are unavoidable!
Overseeding is important to increase thickness of turf, as well as, strengthen the overall lawn by adding different varieties of grass to the property. Overseeding will not fill bare patches or large dead turf areas. For spots like these you will need to pay extra attention by adding top soil, higher levels of seed, and water on a daily basis.
Now is the time to think about your fall overseeding as it is a recommended maintenance approach to a healthier happier lawn!
The Benefits of Overseeding a Lawn
- Overseed yourself. Purchase a NTEP rated variety of seed. You want a Kentucky bluegrass, creeping red fescue, and ryegrass mix. Using a spreader (rentals can be obtained from your local hardware store) spread the seed at a rate of 2 lbs per 1,000 sq ft.
- Contact L.C.S. Lawn and Tree Service and schedule your fall overseeding, which is done in conjunction with your fall Aeration. The holes created by Aeration make the perfect seed bed for maximum overseeding benefits and we use only the highest quality commercial grade seed!
